Itinerary
Day 1: First stop is beautiful Basin Lake - get up close and personal with the resident freshwater turtles. Central Station is a must see, with ancient rainforest and the reminders of a former, once bustling logging camp. Walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek with lush green rainforest and rare king ferns... this silent flowing lake is just breathtaking.
Check out the towering satinay trees in the rich forest of Pile Valley. with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, picture perfect Lake McKenzie is even prettier than the postcards. Enjoy a refreshing afternoon swim before heading back to Kingfisher Bay.
Day 2: An early start to explore Seventy-Five Mile Beach, the world's most amazing beach highway. Visit Eli Creek where you can enjoy a refreshing dip! Float down this fast-flowing freshwater creek which pours out 80 megalitres of water daily. The Maheno Shipwreck was washed ashore during a cyclone in 1935, this rusting wreck is one of Fraser's essential photo stops.
Explore the Coloured Sands, with all the colours of the rainbow (well just the reds really) these vibrant sand cliffs are another favourite photo stop. Climb to the top of Indian Head for awesome beach and ocean views... look out for sharks, rays and humpback whales (Jul - Nov). Chill out in the bubbling ocean rock pools, known as the Champagne Rock Pools, before heading back to your overnight accommodation.
Day 3: A relaxed day visiting a few of Fraser's lesser known treasures. Walk through cool rainforest to beautiful emerald-green Lake Wabby, Fraser's deepest lake and a favourite swimming hole. Trek over one of Fraser's vast desert-like sand blows known as the Hammerstone Blow... no wonder it's the world's largest sand island! Enjoy lunch at Eurong Beach Resort and relax poolside while enjoying a BBQ at the Beach Bar, overlooking Seventy-Five Mile Beach. If you loved Lake McKenzie then Lake Birrabeen will allure you with its sparkling clear waters and dazzling white beaches... you won't be able to resist a dip, a great way to finish the tour!
